Hill Elementary School
Hill Elementary School, Munford AL- The former principal and founder of the school, Ophelia S. Hill, is said to haunt the old school. The folklore says that she died outside the school when she was struck by lightning. Some think she stays there to guard the school from any harm. Our research staff obtained a copy of her death certificate and we now have proof that this part of the story is false. The school was officially closed somewhere around summer of 2001. On Saturday January 6, 2007 the OPS Team, along with a group of friends and family of one of the members, went to Hill Elementary School around 10:00 p.m. We investigated all the buildings with the exception of the gymnasium, which we could not gain access to, using digital and analog voice recorders, digital and 35mm cameras, non contact thermometers, barometers, and emf detectors. Upon reviewing the evidence we caught an EVP in the hallway of the main building by the principals’ office. One of our team members was asking questions, doing EVP work, when he heard a creak of some sort behind him. He asked the other member with him if he had moved and he said no. When we reviewed the recording of that time you can hear the question being asked and then a second later something sounds like a moan. We wrapped up our investigation around 2:00 a.m. On a lighter note, we heard scratching coming from behind a chalk board. All of us started gathering around the chalk board to try and figure out what it might be, all of the sudden a bat showed itself and took off flying down the halls leaving everyone ducking and enjoying a big laugh.
