Undisclosed Residence in Oxford
On Friday October 5th, the OPS Team met here in Oxford for an investigation of a private residence. We were excited about the possibility of visiting this home because of all the reports of activity the homeowners have explained to us happens here nightly.
The reports surrounding this home that was built in 1850 have included a white figure going up the stairs and a yellowish white energy ball that is seen on occasion. The owners have heard many unexplainable sounds and her oldest daughter watched a china doll on her dresser do a complete 360 turn. They have heard children playing and one of the owner’s children have even had the covers pulled off of her while lying in her bed asleep. Two of the children have seen an ominous dark figure. The TV channels have changed by themselves and the radio has turned off by itself as well. There names have been called. One of the owner’s, as best as she can describe, was pulled out of her bed one night while sleeping. They have a very strange moaning/talking on the answering machine that she has also heard coming from the kitchen and all this has taken place in the past three months since buying the home and moving in.
We arrived around 7:45 to a beautiful home that was nicely decorated for the Halloween holiday. Two of the OPS Team members went into the home to speak to the owners and to gather info on camera placement and possible locations for EVP work and investigating. Along with us on this case with was our Case Manager, who we decided needed to go into the field for a few cases to have insight to all aspects of the OPS investigations.
We placed five stationary infrared cameras throughout the home and on the property. The first was placed on the main stairway in the home near the kitchen. The second was placed in the owner’s bedroom facing the bed and door entrance. The third was placed in the oldest daughter’s bedroom facing the bed. The fourth was placed in the bedroom facing the bed of the child that is uncovered during the night and the fifth was placed on the outside of the home facing the front windows and doorway.
Around 9:00 we did our initial walkthrough of the home for the temperature, EMF, barometric, humidity readings. We then broke up into three teams of two and started our investigation with one team remaining at the monitoring station, one team in the owner’s bedroom, and the other team rotating between the oldest daughter’s bedroom and kitchen area.
The owner accompanied different teams throughout the night to see if maybe her presence could help with the communication between the supposed spirits and our team. Her request to us was that she hoped we could help her capture some type of audio, video or digital evidence to prove that her and her family were not just experiencing things that maybe did not exist.
We were able to debunk the answering machine message quickly with it being nothing more than someone making a prank phone call. We found enough evidence at the beginning of the message that we all could hear what almost sounded like music or a ring tone before any other noises were heard.
The owner did experience a cold spot in the dining room while she was sitting in with one of the teams doing EVP work. We did find an air conditioner vent close by and the air conditioner did come on so we cannot be absolutely certain it was nothing more than that of an air conditioner unit doing its normal function. Also while that same team was in the dining room, there were apparent responses to the questions being asked. Three out of five times when the question was asked, “If you are here with us knock on something”; there was a sound that was heard by both members. One member did find out that the noise was coming from the refrigerator. Again, we cannot say with complete certainty that this was nothing more than a normal working machine noise. The homeowners did have guest over that night. While the owners have every right to do this it makes the job of reviewing any evidence tough trying to rule out different sounds and voices.
We finished our investigation after 2:00 am . The owners have invited us for a return trip and we plan to revisit this home very soon for another investigation. We want to help them capture evidence to solidify their claims. The owners were more than hospitable and believe 100 % in their claims of a haunting existing here. Please keep checking back with us for updates to this case and as always thank you for believing and supporting OPS in their endeavors.

Update:
On a return visit to this location a few of the members had a personal experience in the home. While the team was setting up equipment in the home in the kitchen area we had an item fall on its own. Three members were finishing setting up the cameras and about to go back to the monitoring station when a loud bang was heard by all three members. Upon inspection of the kitchen, the dining room, and living room we finally found the item that fell. In the kitchen area, near the entrance to the dining room, we found a microwave cart that was home to a large Mason Jar full of cocoa mix. The jar was lying on its side. After talking with the home owners, we were informed that the jar had not been there long but that it was placed there standing up. Now of course we did not have a camera pointing at the microwave cart, that would have proved to be some great footage if we had. We also attempted to bring one of the home owners back in with us to the kitchen area in hopes of hearing the sounds and feeling the cold spot that had been heard and felt on the the first visit while she was in that same area with the team, we were unable to hear or feel either on this visit. We have been in contact with the home owners since our last visit and they have informed us that all is quiet and they have not had any experiences lately.
